Analyzing the relationship between gender and space elucidates the roles and needs of both men and women, particularly in urban spaces. This analysis aids in understanding how the constructive roles of women contribute to the production and reproduction of desirable social relations in urban spaces. The presence of women in public and urban spaces not only reflects but also narrates the desirable relationships within a society. The primary objective of this research is to identify the dimensions and components that influence the formation of desirable urban spaces for women using the meta-analysis method. The searches were conducted manually, focusing on the keywords "urban spaces, women." For sub-keywords, the terms "park, public space, single-gender spaces" replaced the first keyword. The study period spans from 2016 to 2022 in Persian sources and from 2016 to 2022 in English sources. SPSS software was employed to conduct meta-analysis tests, resulting in the production of forest, bubble, heterogeneity, and funnel (diffusion bias) diagrams. VOSviewer software was used to assess scientific databases for content production in this field. The results indicate that the main dimensions of the research encompass physical and functional dimensions, structural and spatial dimensions, individual and personality dimensions, and cultural and social dimensions in the design of urban spaces. The position of research in the field of urban space design for women holds significance in the global research literature.

In urban spaces, the presence of different social groups always faces a constant flow of exclusion and inclusion. The dual stream which is a spatial competition finally results in the rejection or acceptance and the presence or absence of one of the parties. Today, despite multiple investigations under different names in relation to gender, urban spaces in our society has not been obtained for both men and women as expected. Therefore, this article investigates and analyzes the effectiveness of gender on the exclusion and inclusion of people of Shoosh Park. Then, reproduction of these codes and metaphorical borders of the landscape and urban space as well as their manifestation in the behavior of individuals in this space is studied. This article aims to answer the following question using qualitative analysis method and such techniques as participant observation and interviews with 21 people who are associated with the Shoosh Park: “What kind of spatial differences is caused by different genders in the Shoosh Park?” The results show that, in the Shoosh Park, component of gender is the most important component that causes the presence of different groups in space. In other words, some people are excluded from Park space because of their gender, while some others are included. Strengthening and preparing the context for active participation of women in local scale is the most important proposed policy that mostly considers historical roots and social status of women’s presence in the urban space. Accordingly, it looks for implementation strategies not only in spatial changes, bus also in socio-cultural and historical context of women’s presence in social spaces.

In recent decades, changes can be observed around the presence of women in urban public spaces. This paper investigates on the presence of women in these spaces in terms of selectivity or necessity. Method of research is survey and questionnaire is used to collect data. The statistical sample includes 128 male and 133 female residents of the city of Tabriz that are studied with random sampling. According to the research findings, freedom and independence of women for attending in public spaces is less than those of men. Family restrictions, female specific tasks and lack of performing suitable activities for women in public spaces such as park are the most important limiting factors for the presence of women in public spaces. The presence of women in this sphere has been intensively increased. With regard to the extensive presence of women in academic, educational and working centers, part of this increase is inevitable. Another reason is related to the reduction of men and households' resistance against women for their presence in public spheres. In other words, social attitudes (including both groups of women and men) have been transformed toward urban public spaces and participation of women in these spaces.
